Pastty ("we", "our", or "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our clipboard history manager application handles information when you use our service.

Pastty is a local-first macOS application. This means all your clipboard data is stored exclusively on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store any of your clipboard content on external servers.

Data Collection

Pastty collects and stores the following data locally on your device:

  • Clipboard Content: Text and images you copy to your system clipboard
  • Metadata: Timestamps of when items were copied
  • App Preferences: Your settings and configuration choices

All data is stored in your macOS Application Support directory and never leaves your device.

No Network Communication

Pastty operates entirely offline. The application does not:

  • Send any data to external servers
  • Use analytics or tracking services
  • Collect usage statistics
  • Require an internet connection to function

Data Retention

Clipboard history is retained according to your preferences. You can configure the maximum number of items stored (default: 30). When items are removed or the app is uninstalled, all associated data is permanently deleted from your device.

Security

Since all data remains on your device, the security of your clipboard history depends on the security of your macOS device. We recommend:

  • Keeping macOS updated with the latest security patches
  • Using a strong password and enabling FileVault encryption
  • Being mindful of sensitive information in your clipboard history

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

  • Access: All clipboard data is visible within the app
  • Deletion: Delete individual items or clear entire history at any time
  • Export: Your data is stored in standard formats on your device

Children's Privacy

Pastty does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since no data is transmitted externally, this application is safe for users of all ages.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
